Kyle R. Mecklenborg
Our teammate,
club officer,
event organizer,
tireless worker
and fan of Track & Field

Kyle R. Mecklenborg, 68, of Lansdale, PA
died Sunday, August 25, 2019.

Born August 8, 1951 in Philadelphia, he was
the son of the late Robert and Helen
(Gallagher) Mecklenborg.

Kyle was employed with
Giant Food Stores for many years.  

Kyle was an avid and accomplished long
distance runner and marathoner in his early
adulthood. Even after health issues limited
his participation, he was a tireless organizer,
promoter and visionary of all aspects of
running, throwing and jumping.  He was a
past vice-president of the Greater
Philadelphia Track Club and a past president
of the Philadelphia Masters Track and Field

He was the founder and race director of
GPTC's signature event the
Runners' Pentathlon
for several years.

He was an official at the Penn Relays, and for
the past eight years the Co-Director of the
Germantown Academy All-Comers Summer
Meets. Kyle served on various committees of
the USATF Mid-Atlantic Association and in
2017 he was honored as Volunteer of the
On the day of his death, he was doing what he
loved, laying out a course for a future cross
country race.
